Sammie Orr absolutely loves to make jewelry. She started out loving to draw and paint as a child. After being married and raising two children (and still raising her third),she began to take an interest in painting again and took the one stroke class and also began wood burning.
One year, she was at a craft show in Gatlinburg and saw this beautiful handmade jewelry. When she got home she began gathering beads and crystals for beading. It seemed like the more she did the more she loved it and it became an addiction. She then started making things with wire and that became even more addictive. She found that she could manipulate the wire into just about any shape and even accent this shape with beads or crystals. Sammie loved this type of art so much that she began taking classes. She would search the internet for tutorials and was amazed at all of the different techniques for using. She studied the techniques so that she could then make designs of her own using
Last year (2007), Sammie took the plunge and attended a workshop at Wildacres in NC. This was the most amazing workshop she had ever been to and learned techniques that would take her work to the next level. Now, she is making jewelry that people love to wear and that could be passed on through generations. Jewelry that is a one of a kind piece of art. Each piece can be custom made to fit an person's own unique style. She is in the process of learning silversmithing and has also found an extreme love for photography! Everyday she is amazed at the beauty you find behind the lens of a camera.
