The event highlights some of our finest local artisans and crafters.
Other features include live entertainment, food and a Kids Zone. Autumn Treasures 2010 will be held this year on October 9 and 10. Call for New Artists September 1, 2010 Waxhaw Art & Chocolate Waxhaw Art & Chocolate Co-op Art Gallery Accepting New Artists Waxhaw, NC – Art and Chocolate, an art gallery located in the historic post office off Main Street in Waxhaw, NC is now accepting applications for new artists into the co-op gallery. Fulltime artists looking for a venue in the Union County, Waxhaw area and creating fine art or craft are encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted with interviews to follow upon receiving your artist statement and bio and 3 jpgs (low res) of your work. Waxhaw Art & Chocolate co-op operates with each artist managing the sales desk, one day per month. Artist sales, no commissions taken, are paid directly on a monthly basis. A small, set payment from each artist covers the rent and basic operation costs and is paid quarterly. A joining fee is required. Waxhaw Art & Chocolate celebrates the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of local emerging designers and artisans. The shop seeks to market art and crafts from the most talented professional designers in the region. Artists who are searching for gallery space to show their art and volunteer with other like-minded professional artists are encouraged to contact Art & Chocolate. Clearly, Art & Chocolate has a dedicated group of highly talented artists, showing a full range of art and crafts and feeds an irresistible demand for fine, gourmet chocolate as well,” Bricklend Ward, Gallery Manager and artist said. “First time visitors are delighted and surprised when they enter to see all the art that fits into this old post office.” The store began with a small group of artists who worked hard at fixing up the single room building on Church Street, which has served as the towns’ post office, movie theater, jail, bicycle repair, storage and more. After undergoing a colorful paint job, adding a front porch with a custom glass stone inlay, landscaping and filling the shop with paintings, prints, jewelry, pottery and an array of artful crafts, the shop opened for business in October 2007. More than eight artists contribute time at the sales desk, take care of chores, meet local customers on a one-to- one basis and go back to their studios to create art. A true art co-op, Art & Chocolate is gaining a reputation among local artists as a well-run business enjoying success by finding outstanding creative work, locally produced has a growing and supportive market. Art & Chocolate, an art gallery co-op located in the former Waxhaw Post Office is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
